Senator Jameson Timba has been sentenced to two years imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years, for his role in a public violence offence. The sentence was handed down by Magistrate Collet Ncube, who also sentenced Jaison Kautsa to the same term.
As part of his sentence, Senator Timba is required to refrain from committing any offence involving an illegal gathering with the intent to promote public violence. This condition is aimed at promoting public order and deterring individuals from engaging in violent or destructive behaviour.
In addition to Senator Timba and Kautsa, eight women and other Harare residents were also sentenced to 14 months imprisonment, wholly suspended for five years, for their involvement in the same public violence offence. They have been given similar conditions to Senator Timba, emphasizing the need for peaceful conduct and respect for the law.
