Masoka’s entry into broadcasting was facilitated by a relative who spotted a radio advertisement calling for presenters proficient in indigenous languages. Despite being nervous and struggling to follow studio instructions during the audition, she impressed the panel and was shortlisted. At the time, she only had an O-Level certificate, but her talent and dedication propelled her forward. She joined the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation’s National FM as one of the station’s pioneers, working under the leadership of Phathutshedza Manala.

Throughout her career, Masoka has navigated various roles, covering topics ranging from politics to entertainment. She served as an anchor in ZBC’s News and Current Affairs department before joining Khulumani FM in 2018. She has since obtained a Diploma in Public Relations and a Degree in Media Studies, further enhancing her skills. As the station manager of Khulumani FM, Masoka has led the station to achieve notable milestones, including broadcasting live from outside the country, with a groundbreaking event in South Africa.

When we fail, we fail together,” reflects her commitment to teamwork. Under her leadership, Khulumani FM has continued to thrive, celebrating its seventh anniversary.

In addition to her work in broadcasting, Masoka is deeply rooted in her culture and has actively participated in programmes promoting the IsiXhosa language in Zimbabwe. She was part of the team that translated the country’s constitution from English to IsiXhosa. Her collaboration with South Africa’s Umhlobo Wenene FM on the IsiXhosa heritage project showcases her dedication to cultural preservation and exchange.
