Blessing Muzarabani

Blessing Muzarabani is a prominent Zimbabwean cricketer, born on October 2, 1996, in Murehwa, Zimbabwe. He began his cricket journey at a young age, training at the renowned Takashinga Cricket Club in Harare, where his natural talent as a fast bowler quickly became evident. Muzarabani’s early promise was recognized when he was selected for the Rising Stars Academy in 2017, which included a developmental tour of England.

He made his first-class debut for the Rising Stars in the 2017–18 Logan Cup and later played for domestic teams such as the Mountaineers and Southern Rocks. Muzarabani’s international debut came in December 2017, when he played his first Test match for Zimbabwe against South Africa. He soon followed this with debuts in both One Day Internationals (ODIs) and Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) in early 2018. His performances quickly established him as a key figure in Zimbabwe’s pace attack, and the ICC named him the “rising star” of Zimbabwe’s squad after the 2018 Cricket World Cup Qualifier.

In 2018, Muzarabani paused his international career to sign a Kolpak contract with Northamptonshire in England. After the Kolpak system ended, he returned to the Zimbabwean national team and made an immediate impact, including a memorable five-wicket haul against Pakistan in November 2020 that helped Zimbabwe secure a dramatic Super Over victory.

Muzarabani is known for his right-arm fast-medium bowling, generating significant bounce and pace. He has also played in franchise leagues, notably helping the Multan Sultans win their first Pakistan Super League title in 2021. As of 2025, Muzarabani has played over 50 ODIs and 60 T20Is for Zimbabwe, consistently being one of the team’s leading wicket-takers and a central figure in their bowling lineup. His career reflects resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to excellence, making him one of Zimbabwe’s most important cricketers in recent years.
