Passionate Mujeketwa, known professionally as Jax Da Beat Bully, is a Zimbabwean hip hop music producer whose influence in the country’s music scene has grown steadily over the past few years. Born in 1997 in Gutu, Jax’s journey into music began during his teenage years. Initially, he tried his hand at rapping, but at the age of 17, he discovered Fruity Loops Studio, a music production software, and quickly realized that his true passion lay in creating beats rather than performing. Inspired by hip hop and reggae dancehall genres he grew up listening to, thanks in part to his older brother Jax immersed himself in music production, teaching himself through online resources and YouTube tutorials

Jax’s early days as a producer were marked by challenges, particularly in finding artists willing to use his beats. He persevered, continuously honing his craft and staying true to his vision. His persistence paid off as he began to attract the attention of rising Zimbabwean hip hop artists, most notably R.Peels, Voltz JT, and Asaph. His collaboration with Voltz JT on the hit single “These Days” is widely recognized as a turning point, with the song contributing to the popularization of drill music in Zimbabwe.

Education played a significant role in Jax’s life. He moved from Gutu to Harare to attend the University of Zimbabwe, where he graduated with a degree in social work. While he initially prioritized completing his education to satisfy his family, he always viewed music as his ultimate calling. After graduation, he committed himself fully to music production, establishing himself as a full-time producer. Jax is known for his versatility, refusing to confine himself to any single sub-genre of hip hop. He describes his approach as making music that he enjoys, rather than following trends. This open-mindedness has allowed him to work with a diverse range of artists and sounds. He is also recognized for his trademark bandana, a personal style choice that has become part of his public persona.

Jax’s contributions have not gone unnoticed. He has been nominated for Best Producer at the Zim Hip Hop Awards, reflecting his growing stature in the industry. Despite his success, he remains grounded, attributing his achievements to perseverance, self-belief, and faith. Jax Da Beat Bully continues to be a driving force in Zimbabwean hip hop, both as a creator and as an advocate for the next generation of talent.
