The state-of-the-art Trabablas Interchange, a multi-million-dollar project, is set to officially open to traffic this Friday. The interchange, located at the confluence of Simon Mazorodze Road, Chitungwiza Road, and High Glen Road in Harare, replaces the Mbudzi roundabout that was built in 1998. This project is part of the road development strategy aimed at enhancing the nation’s transportation network and driving economic growth.

The Trabablas interchange is a vital component of the North-South Corridor, a major regional trade route linking Zimbabwe with neighboring countries and the rest of the continent. The project, which began in January 2022, features 15 bridges and will streamline the flow of traffic to and from Harare, Masvingo, Chitungwiza, and southern suburbs. The US$88 million project is expected to ease traffic congestion at one of the country’s busiest and most strategic intersections.
President Emmerson Mnangagwa will commission the Trabablas Interchange on Friday, marking a significant milestone in Zimbabwe’s infrastructure development history. The interchange is named after President Mnangagwa’s liberation war moniker, “Trabablas,” symbolizing his leadership and commitment to infrastructure advancement.
