A cross-border trader, Charlotte Dube, was allegedly abducted by a Zebra Kiss bus crew and brutally assaulted at their garage in Harare’s Ardbennie suburb. The incident occurred after a fellow passenger accused Dube of stealing a parcel due to mistaken identity. Despite the error, the bus crew took Dube to the company’s garage, where a group of men, including Marvin, Munashe, Kuda, Roma, and Baba Keketso, beat her with planks, causing injuries to her hands, buttocks, and back.
The assault was allegedly orchestrated by the bus conductor, Pardy, who engaged the men to attack Dube. The passenger later clarified that her parcel was not stolen, and Zebra Kiss manager Kudakwashe Mupfukirei apologized to Dube, offering a refund of $300 to resolve the matter amicably. However, Dube had already reported the assault to the police, and the case was documented at Mbare Stodart Police Station.
Dube expressed her distress, stating that the incident had affected her physically, emotionally, and professionally. She had relied on Zebra Kiss for her cross-border trips, but the assault destroyed her trust in the company. The incident has also impacted her reputation, family, and business.
