A Bulawayo businesswoman, Sipho Mazibuko, 52, has accused her former “fake son” and manager, Courage Ngwenya, 25, of swindling her out of $5,600. Ngwenya allegedly used the stolen funds for betting, particularly on “kandege.” He was arrested and appeared in court, where he was released on $200 bail.
Mazibuko, the owner of the Miss Rural Zimbabwe pageant, claimed she took Ngwenya in as a “son” and entrusted him with her finances and safe keys. However, she alleged that he had a fake accounting degree and used her trust to embezzle her funds. Ngwenya reportedly used the money to buy expensive suits and date several girls. Mazibuko also revealed that Ngwenya persistently demanded her phone password, although she didn’t clarify why.
The incident has left Mazibuko shaken, and she ended up being admitted to a private hospital due to high blood pressure. She has since denied any romantic involvement with Ngwenya, despite a picture surfacing of the two cosying up together. Mazibuko’s health issues are also notable, having been previously diagnosed with bipolar disorder and admitted to Ingutsheni Hospital.
