Nationwide Power Outage Hits Zimbabwe

A nationwide electricity blackout hit Zimbabwe on Thursday, July 3, after a system disturbance led to a loss of power generation at Kariba and Hwange Power Stations. The outage occurred at 2 pm, causing widespread disruptions across the country. According to the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA), the disturbance also resulted in the loss of power imports from neighboring countries, including South Africa, Zambia, and Mozambique.

ZESA has assured the nation that restoration efforts are underway, with power already restored to some areas. The authority’s teams are working tirelessly to bring the remaining affected areas back online as soon as possible.

ZESA’s efforts are focused on restoring power in the shortest possible time, and some areas have already had their power restored.
