The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has arrested one suspect linked to the brazen US$4 million heist at Ecobank’s Bulawayo branch. According to Bulawayo province police spokeswoman Inspector Nomalanga Msebele, the suspect is expected to appear in court today. The arrest brings hope that the authorities are closing in on the culprits behind the daring robbery.
The heist occurred on October 4, 2024, when six armed robbers wielding AK47s and pistols stormed the Ecobank branch housed in the NRZ Building. The robbers made off with an estimated US$4 million, leaving authorities stunned and sparking a massive manhunt.
The police have identified six suspects linked to the heist and are now hunting for the remaining five, urging anyone with information to come forward. The authorities are working to bring the perpetrators to justice and recover the stolen funds.
