
Exodus Makumbe is a prominent Zimbabwean entrepreneur and investment banker with a career spanning more than two decades in the financial services industry. His journey began at the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe, where he dedicated 13 years serving in various capacities as a bank regulator. This foundational experience provided Makumbe with valuable insights into the country’s banking sector and regulatory frameworks. In 2002, Makumbe was instrumental in establishing Premier Discount House (Pvt) Limited. Under his leadership, the institution transitioned into a merchant bank, rebranding as Premier Banking Corporation Limited in 2004. He served first as the Managing Director before quickly advancing to Chief Executive Officer of Premier Finance Group (Pvt) Limited, demonstrating significant leadership during a period of transformation in Zimbabwe’s banking system.
After departing Premier Finance Group in 2007, Makumbe founded Exodus & Company (Pvt) Limited, focusing on investment, advisory, and family office services. His entrepreneurial drive led to further ventures, including the co-founding of Platinum Groupe (Pvt) Ltd in January 2010, an integrated financial services group. He currently serves as chairman of both Exodus & Company (Pvt) Limited and Platinum Groupe, alongside chairing other notable enterprises such as Workman (Pvt) Limited. Makumbe is known for his ability to create and grow brands, with his company spearheading notable real estate projects, such as the development of Madokero Estate near Harare. His vision and leadership have not gone unnoticed, earning him various awards for management and contributions to the development of banking and human capital in Zimbabwe.
Academically, Makumbe holds a Master of Science in Strategic Management from Derbyshire Business School and is pursuing a Doctorate in Finance with the Swiss Management Centre of Switzerland. He is also working towards a law degree with the University of South Africa (UNISA), highlighting his commitment to continuous personal and professional development. Over the years, Makumbe has held directorships on several public and private boards, further underlining his influence in Zimbabwe’s business landscape. While there was some controversy during his tenure at Premier Finance Group, with allegations leading to his resignation, his legacy continues to be defined by his entrepreneurial contributions and leadership within Zimbabwean finance and infrastructure.
