Zimdancehall artist Nyasha Reginald Mano, known as Ras Pompy, has been remanded in custody after being found with large amounts of restricted cough syrup. He appeared before Harare magistrate Mr Gamuchirai Gore last week, facing charges under the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act.
Police reportedly seized 24 bottles of Broncleer, 20 of Benylin, and 55 of Astra Pain cough syrup. These substances are often misused as narcotics, raising alarm in the entertainment scene and prompting stricter enforcement.
Ras Pompy returned to court today for his bail hearing. The outcome could shape public discourse around drug use in Zimbabwe’s music circles.
