The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has intensified its crackdown on lawlessness on Harare’s roads, arresting 1,050 people since the launch of an ongoing operation. The operation, targeting pirate taxis, touts, and reckless drivers, has also resulted in the impounding of 479 pirate taxis, with 10 of those vehicles being reported stolen.

According to reports, 308 touts were arrested during the operation, with some already appearing in court. Additionally, 551 traffic violators tried to flee from police checkpoints, highlighting the extent of lawlessness on the city’s roads.

The ZRP’s crackdown is part of an ongoing effort to promote road discipline and curb lawlessness on Harare’s roads. The operation is expected to continue, with the ZRP urging the public to cooperate and observe road rules and regulations to ensure road safety.
