Vice President General (Rtd) Dr. Constantino Chiwenga has hailed the South African High Court’s decision to order the forfeiture of assets belonging to his former wife, Marry Mubaiwa. The judgment, which marks a significant cross-border legal collaboration, comes after an investigation triggered by Chiwenga’s initial report to Zimbabwean authorities regarding alleged criminal activities tied to Mubaiwa.

In a statement issued through his legal representative, Advocate Lewis Uriri, Chiwenga praised the joint efforts of the Zimbabwe National Prosecuting Authority and their South African counterparts. He emphasized that his decision to act swiftly was guided by a commitment to justice and national interest. The move is seen as part of a broader campaign to reinforce accountability in public and private dealings.

The recovered assets, which include financial holdings, will be handed over to the Zimbabwean government. Chiwenga reaffirmed his dedication to the principles of legality and transparency, stating that the court’s decision underscores the importance of cross-jurisdictional cooperation in combating illicit enrichment.
