A senior officer within the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP), Assistant Inspector Mandizvidza, has triggered a nationwide manhunt after allegedly stealing a police-issued Ford Ranger and issuing inflammatory directives. Claiming authority over the ZRP, Mandizvidza ordered all Chinese nationals to vacate Zimbabwe within 48 hours, prompting alarm across diplomatic and law enforcement circles.

In response, the ZRP has mobilized stations throughout Mashonaland East Province to erect roadblocks aimed at intercepting both the rogue officer and the stolen vehicle. The directive follows Mandizvidza’s public warning that any attempt to detain him could escalate into conflict. His statement—“Hapana munhu anorowa, vanhu vachafamba zvakanaka, vagobuda. If you really love your country support me”—has raised concerns about his motives and mental state.

Authorities have yet to confirm Mandizvidza’s whereabouts, and investigations are underway to determine whether he acted alone or with support. The incident has sparked urgent discussions within the police command and government, as officials work to contain the fallout and reassure foreign nationals of their safety.
