A 48-year-old man from Rujeko, Chinhoyi, has been convicted by the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court for raping his 15-year-old daughter. The man was sentenced to 15 years in prison for his crimes.
According to court documents, the abuse began in May 2025 when the father, returning home intoxicated, called his daughter and her two younger brothers into his bedroom. After the younger children fell asleep, he started fondling his daughter and subsequently raped her. The accused threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the assaults. This abuse was repeated on multiple occasions.
The victim escaped the abusive environment by running away from home on June 22, 2025, after suffering further mistreatment. She spent the night outdoors before a kind stranger found her and helped her report the crime to the police. Following the report, she was taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital for a medical examination.
The court’s decision to impose a 15-year sentence reflects the seriousness of the offense and the need to protect vulnerable children from such heinous acts.
This case highlights the critical importance of supporting victims of sexual abuse and ensuring justice is served. Community awareness and timely reporting remain essential in combating these crimes and safeguarding children.
The National Prosecuting Authority and law enforcement agencies have reaffirmed their commitment to fighting crime and corruption, encouraging victims to come forward for justice. The man’s conviction sends a strong message that such crimes will not be tolerated in society.
