Two kombi drivers have been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly trying to run over police officers at a roadblock on Chiremba Road in Epworth. The incident occurred on 4 September during a routine traffic stop, where officers were forced to leap out of the way as the drivers accelerated toward them instead of complying with orders to halt.

The suspects, identified as Wilson Yasin (28) and Courage Tinashe Mupoperi (35), were driving a Toyota Hiace and a Nissan Caravan respectively. According to a police statement, the drivers made a deliberate decision to endanger the officers’ lives, prompting an immediate manhunt and arrest. Their vehicles have since been impounded as part of the ongoing investigation.

Following the arrests, police issued a stern warning to all motorists, emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on violent and reckless behavior on the roads. Authorities reiterated their commitment to enforcing the law and protecting officers from life-threatening conduct during traffic operations.
