Zimdancehall artist Nyasha Reginald Mano, known as Ras Pompy, has been sentenced to six months in prison following his conviction for unlawful possession of restricted medicines. The Harare Magistrates’ Court found him guilty of violating the Medicines and Allied Substances Control Act after a full trial presided over by Magistrate Gamuchirai Gore.

The court heard that on July 16, 2025, detectives from CID Drugs Harare spotted Ras Pompy’s black Honda Fit—already flagged in their database for suspected drug distribution—stuck in traffic along Kambuzuma Road. When signalled to stop, the musician allegedly fled into Rugare suburb, leading to a police chase that ended when his vehicle collided with a metal pole. Upon searching the car, officers recovered approximately 100 bottles of cough syrup, including Broncleer, Benylin, and Astra Pain, with a combined street value of US$396.

Prosecutor Mandirasa Chigumira confirmed that Ras Pompy was arrested on the scene and taken to CID Drugs Harare. Both the vehicle and the seized substances were confiscated by police. The court’s ruling marks a significant moment in ongoing efforts to curb the illegal distribution of medicinal substances in Harare.
