Our #WCW today is Apphia Nyasha Musavengana, a Zimbabwean trailblazer whose journey from humble beginnings has become a beacon of resilience and empowerment. Born and raised in Zimbabwe, she grew up in an environment where poverty and gender inequality were everyday realities. These early challenges shaped her determination to rise above circumstance and inspired her lifelong mission to create opportunities for young women across Africa.

Her pursuit of education took her to the University of Limpopo in South Africa in 2009, where she sharpened her leadership skills and broadened her worldview. Education became her gateway to empowerment, equipping her with the tools to challenge barriers and to envision a future where women could thrive in business and leadership.
Apphia’s career began in journalism, serving as a Senior Private Investigating Journalist and Southern Region representative for Media Mass. Journalism gave her a platform to expose social issues, demand accountability, and amplify the voices of ordinary people. It was not just a profession but a calling—one that built her reputation as a fearless communicator and advocate for integrity.

Her path soon expanded into continental leadership. She founded and now leads Concord for Young Women in Business Global, a platform dedicated to empowering young women entrepreneurs. She also serves as AFRICA-ASIA SADC Deputy Youth Leader and as an African Union Envoy Ambassador, bridging continents in the pursuit of youth development. In Zimbabwe, her initiatives have been practical and impactful, from ICT training to goat-rearing projects that have empowered hundreds of young women with skills and income opportunities.
Recognition has followed her relentless work. She has been named among Africa’s 100 Iconic Personalities of the Year, honored with the Patrice Lumumba Leadership Excellence and Integrity Award, and celebrated as a Global Change Maker and Icon of African Economic Advancement. These accolades are not just personal triumphs but symbols of the broader movement she represents—African women stepping into leadership, entrepreneurship, and global advocacy.

Today, Apphia Nyasha Musavengana stands as a symbol of transformation. From her humble beginnings in Zimbabwe to continental recognition, her journey is a testament to the power of vision, integrity, and service. She continues to inspire young women to break barriers, challenge traditions, and seize opportunities, proving that true leadership is not about titles but about impact. Her story is one of turning struggle into strength, and of using that strength to lift others.
