Tawanda Manzvinde, a 34-year-old cashier at N Richards Wholesalers in Rusape, is wanted by police for allegedly stealing US$35,250 during the Easter holiday. Manzvinde, who was responsible for collecting cash from till operators and handing it over to Fawcett Security for safekeeping, reportedly used a clever scheme to deceive both his employer and the security company.

Manzvinde allegedly filled sealed boxes with bond paper cut to resemble money, instead of the actual cash, and handed them over to Fawcett Security. The security company reportedly did not check the contents of the boxes, allowing Manzvinde to get away with the theft. When his supervisor became worried after Manzvinde failed to show up for work, the sealed boxes were opened, revealing the bond paper inside.
The police are now searching for Manzvinde, who is believed to have fled the country. A US$2,500 reward is being offered for any information that leads to his arrest. The case has raised concerns about the company’s internal checks and security procedures. Anyone with information about Manzvinde’s whereabouts is urged to report it to the nearest police station.
