Our #MCM today is Jeff Madzingo, a Zimbabwean-born entrepreneur who has made a name for himself in the UK as the CEO of Diaspora Insurance. Born and bred in Gutu rural, Masvingo province, Zimbabwe, Madzingo’s journey to success is a testament to his determination and focus. He completed his studies and initially worked as a banker before moving to the UK for a postgraduate program on a British Council scholarship.
After completing his postgraduate studies, Madzingo faced a setback when he couldn’t secure a job in the banking sector. He had to take up a job as a security guard to make ends meet. However, he used this opportunity to study and eventually obtained professional qualifications in mortgages and insurance.
Madzingo’s big break came when he started a business that helped thousands of diasporans buy their first homes or establish property portfolios. He later founded Diaspora Insurance, which specializes in marketing and distributing insurance products and risk management solutions tailored to African expatriates. The company’s flagship product, the Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan, provides a dignified send-off for Africans in the diaspora and their loved ones.
Today, Diaspora Insurance is a multi-million-dollar business with offices in the UK and South Africa, and a huge call center in South Africa. The company caters to Africans from 13 nationalities, including Zimbabwe, living and working in developed markets like the UK, EU, New Zealand, Australia, and North America. Madzingo’s company also engages in charity work, supporting marginalized communities and running public service initiatives.
Madzingo’s success has not gone unnoticed. Recently, he was honored with the prestigious “Excellence In Transformative Insurance Solutions” award at the Africa-UK Business Awards 2025, recognizing his groundbreaking work in providing innovative insurance solutions for the global African diaspora.
