Zimbabwean film ‘Mirage’ wins international award

The Malaika Mashandu-directed prison-based feature film Mirage has won an award at the Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF) in Canada.

The 2020 film picked up the Best First Feature Award at the event in September.

Joe Njagu produced the film which has a stellar cast which includes Prudence Katomeni Mbofana, Charmaine Mujeri, Eunice Tava, Joylebe Malenga, Delma Chareveya, Stewart Sakarombe, Clara Chakabveyo, Victor Mpofu and Taurai Kawara.

The film is set on the fringes of the 2017 removal of former president Robert Mugabe, with a group of women plotting an escape from a maximum security prison.
