Group leading the largest youth-led reforestation program in Zimbabwe

Today we share with the community, the amazing work led by Takudzwa Ashley Mlambo, the CEO and Founder of Forestry & Citrus Research (FACIR), a vibrant youth-group which is leading the largest youth-led reforestation program in Zimbabwe under the banner of “The Greater Green Project” which aims to plant and monitor 1 billion trees in Zimbabwe by 2030.

 

Through Mr Mlambo’s pristine leadership, the group has achieved remarkable achievements locally, regionally and internationally such as the Potraz 2022 Hackathon Award; the 2022 Ruforum Award for outstanding contribution to entrepreneurship development in Africa; the 2023 Ypard Agriyouth Africa Hackathon Award honoured in Durban, South Africa for their outstanding contribution to biodiversity conservation and preservation in Africa.

Notably, the groups was recently honoured during the Global Startup Awards Africa in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as the best startup in Southern Africa.

 

The scope of The Greater Green Project is centered on alleviating deforestation across Zimbabwe through reforestation and planting of trees in strategic areas of the country.
