As the Assistant Accountant your key responsibility areas are:

• Providing input into the preparation of the financial budgets and half year forecast to the Financial Accountant.
• Providing input in the preparation of the monthly management pack to the Financial Accountant.
• Receiving invoices from creditors, checks for completeness of documentation including tax clearance status and purchase orders.
• Capturing onto the system and monitoring the payments tracker.
• Sending remittance advices to suppliers and the related proof of payments.
• Obtaining supplier statements from departments and preparing supplier reconciliation statements in line with Finance Policies and Procedures.
• Processing the tax payments and filing the tax returns by uploading on the online ZIMRA portal upon approval by the Financial Accountant.
• Preparing monthly VAT Disallowed report and submitting to the Financial Accountant
• Computing deferred tax and submits to the financial accountant.
• Clearing the GRN outstanding issues monthly.
• Reviewing previous week sales margins and submitting to the Financial Accountant
• Preparing monthly accrual reconciliations and submitting Financial Accountant.
• Processing monthly accrual journals, reversals, amortizations of prepayment and any other general ledger adjustments.
• Maintaining the integrity of the general ledger including the preparation, verification, and input of journal entries.
• Preparing analysis of accounts by downloading ledger general transactions to identify posting errors, process re-allocation journals and assessing completeness of entries on the Trial Balance on a monthly basis.
• Preparing monthly creditors and key customer reconciliations and submitting to the Financial Accountant.
• Preparing monthly GL reconciliations and checking that outstanding items are cleared in line with Finance Policies and Procedures.
• Preparing journal entries for review by the Financial Accountant.
• Preparing change request forms for adding new general ledger codes and submitting to the Financial Accountant.
• Preparing the general ledger audit file reconciliations and submitting to the Financial Accountant.
