When people start thinking about tourism, the first place that comes to mind is Europe. But the world is a huge place. There are so many countries out there —  over 190, to be more precise. In Latin America, there are countries that are beautiful and have fantastic landscapes. There are countries in Asia where you can have so much fun exploring. And when it comes to Africa, some countries are rich in history, the wildlife is gorgeous, and you will be one with nature.

Let’s take a look at the 10 most visited countries in Africa. We’ll give you all the numbers and a few cool things to do in each country.

Visiting Africa is always about learning about different cultures and being one with nature. Learning about the majestic animals that inhabit the African continent should be a priority on the list. When you’re in Botswana, you will have the opportunity to visit many national parks, sanctuaries, and game reserves. You can also visit important historical monuments and museums to learn about Botswana’s history and culture.

Kenya is all about seeing animals in nature up close. There are so many national parks, wildlife reserves, and places to explore. By visiting Kenya, you will be able to learn about the creatures that inhabit the African continent. Just make sure you go to the National Museum of Kenya to learn about the country’s rich history and cultural heritage.

Otherwise known as Côte d’Ivoire, the Ivory Coast is located in West Africa. There are many things you can do in the Ivory Coast — historical, cultural, and religious learning, as well as nature exploration. For some cultural experiences, you can go to the National Museum of Costume, the Plateau Mosque, and the Basilica of Our Lady of Peace of Yamoussoukro. Nature exploration in the Ivory Coast should consist of going to the Jardin Botanique de Bingerville, the Parc National du Banco, and La Dent de Man.

Located on the Indian Ocean in East Africa, Mozambique has it all. You can go to Lake Malawi and see the abundance of wildlife there or you can also go to Tofo Beach to relax while seeing that beautiful view of the ocean.  Your trip to Mozambique will be filled with a lot of nature and colors of blue and green galore!

Zimbabwe is one of the most beautiful countries in the world. If you are a nature lover, then you will love Zimbabwe. There are so many outdoor activities that you can do. Make sure that you see Victoria Falls and the myriad of national parks that Zimbabwe has. The national parks located in Zimbabwe have an abundance of nature —  different species of plants, trees, and flowers, as well as all sorts of beautiful animals like giraffes, elephants, lions, hyenas, and antelope.

Algeria is located in North Africa by the Mediterranean Sea. There are so many things to do in the country including going to the Fort of Santa Cruz, the Amir Abdel Kader Mosque, the Raïs Palace, and even the Beni Add Ain Fezza Caves. And if you thought there was only one Notre Dame, you’re wrong. Go see the beautiful Church of Notre Dame of Africa in Algiers, which is Algeria’s capital.

Sitting on the Mediterranean Sea, Tunisia has so many sites to see. Even though it’s a small country you can go to the Amphitheater of El Jem, to the Bardo National Museum, and for some religious learning, to the Ez-Zitouna Mosque. For those history lovers out there, you can check out Dougga, the Baths of Antoninus, and the Cartage archeological site.

Located at the tip of the African continent, South Africa is definitely a country steeped in Rich cultural heritage and history. When you go to the country you can visit the Apartheid Museum, the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, and the Cango Caves. If you stay in Cape Town, make sure you relax at the beach. For those wanting to see wildlife and nature, you can go to the Cape of Good Hope, the Addo Elephant National Park, and God’s Window.

Several of the major cities in Morocco include Marrakesh, Tangier, Rabat, and Casablanca. There are several mosques that you should definitely go to and other landmarks like Jemaa el-Fnaa. Take a camel ride when you go out close to the Sahara Desert, too.

Seeped in rich history, you can also see the Luxor Temple in Luxor and other archaeological sites throughout the country.
