Zimbabwe Junior golfers shine in Kenya

The NCBA Kenya Invitational young Tournament was held over the weekend at the Windsor Country Club in Nairobi, and the Zimbabwe’s young golfers put up a fantastic display.

Tanaka Ashley of Zimbabwe won the championship in the Under 15–18 boys division with a stellar six-over-par 222 total that included rounds of 70, 78, and 74.

Tawana Mangoma  took second place with a score of 17 over par 233, earning the silver medal, followed by Kevin Anyien of Kenya in third place.

More success for Zimbabwe came from Munesu Chimhini, who defeated Austrian Sean Widor in a playoff to win the Boys 12 Years Division.

In the girls’ division, Kenya’s Audrey Gachora took second place, and Miriam Masiya won the title in the 13 to 14-year-old group.

In its first year, over 120 young golfers from Kenya and other countries participated in this high-profile tournament, which was organized by U.S. Kids Golf in partnership with the Junior Golf Foundation of Kenya. These countries included Argentina, Austria, Belgium, China, Ghana, India, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
