Our #MCM is Leroy Zaware, populary known as Comic Elder, Zimbabwean comedian who calls himself “The Real Comedian”. He is well known for his statement “Takumbokudzoserai Kumashure”. He has been doing social Media Skits since 2021.

Before doing social media skits, he tried to be a Zimdancehall singer around 2018, but this did not go well with family and friends as the music was not appealing.

Comic Elder was introduced to comedy by Comic Pastor through his Academy for Actors. Leroy was inspired by the Comic Pastor; hence, he named himself the Comic Elder.

His parents initially wanted him to be a boiler maker, but he wasn’t up for that idea. He passed his ‘O’ Levels and only failed Maths; however, he believes his call is in comedy.

At first, his parents were against the idea of being a comedian; however, due to his influence, they managed to accept his path.

He said, “I have learned to avoid excessive content in my art. I also learned to desist from politics as they would damage my brand”.

“When I started, I was looking forward to making money out of my art very quickly, but it’s a process. However, I am managing to earn something from advertisements and streaming platforms such as YouTube.

“I faced challenges in connecting with well-established comedians, as sometimes they would not respond to my messages.”

Internationally, I wish to do a collaboration with Mr. Bean; however, it might be impossible because of his age, and I would love to work with everyone locally.

Recently, Comic Elder flooded social media with his skit “Takutongo Risker,Apana Kusiri Kufa,” which resonates with the festive season.
