A remarkable achievement was witnessed at Atlantic Academy in Harare as Shalom Zingwe, a Form One student, successfully sat for the Cambridge O Level exams at just 14 years old. She displayed exceptional academic prowess by scoring three A grades in Computer Science, Accounting, and Economics, accompanied by Bs in Mathematics, Geography, and Business Studies. It’s not everyday that a form one pupil excels in Cambridge exams.

The school director, Ms. Patience Mufokozana, expressed her admiration for Shalom’s outstanding performance. Following discussions with her parents, it was decided that Shalom would progress to Lower Sixth Form instead of the usual Form Two level. Ms. Mufokozana emphasized the rarity of such achievement as these exams are typically taken by students aged 16 or 17. Shalom’s accomplishment at such a young age is truly remarkable.

Another student from Atlantic Academy, 15-year-old Kudzaishe Mhaka, also demonstrated extraordinary academic excellence. He achieved seven A grades in Chemistry, Physics, Accounting, Computer Science, Mathematics, Biology, and Geography. These exceptional results underscore the commitment and dedication displayed by Kudzaishe throughout his studies.

Atlantic Academy as a whole achieved an impressive 95 percent pass rate in the Cambridge O Level examinations. The school’s commitment to academic excellence and its nurturing environment have undoubtedly contributed to the students’ success.

In addition to Atlantic Academy, Harare’s Champion College has also celebrated exceptional achievements. The college achieved a perfect 100 percent pass rate. Notably, fraternal twins Patience (female) and Prosper (male) Muza performed exceptionally well in the 2023 Cambridge O Level exams, earning distinctions in all their science subjects.

Prosper obtained seven A grades in Mathematics, Chemistry, Computer Science, Physics, Biology, Accounting, and Geography. Meanwhile, Patience achieved A grades in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Geography. Their extraordinary results earned them scholarships and commendation from the college administrators.

Expressing their delight, the twins credited their success to their unwavering discipline, dedication, and hard work. They expressed gratitude towards the college administrators for recognizing their achievements and awarding them scholarships. Both Patience and Prosper expressed their desire to pursue science subjects at an Advanced Level and beyond.

These exceptional achievements highlight the potential and capabilities of young students in Zimbabwe. Shalom, Kudzaishe, Patience, and Prosper serve as inspiration to their fellow students, demonstrating the rewards of hard work, determination, and a supportive learning environment. Their accomplishments signify the bright future awaiting them as they continue their educational journey.
