Kelly Khumalo implicated in Senzo Meyiwa murder. During the Senzo Meyiwa murder trial, two of the accused, Muzi Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi, have implicated Kelly Khumalo, the former girlfriend of the late Senzo Meyiwa, as the person who ordered the killing of the soccer star. This revelation was made by the lead investigator, Brigadier Bongani Gininda, at the Pretoria High Court on Wednesday.

According to eyewitnesses present at Kelly’s Vosloorus home on the night of the incident, two intruders entered the house and demanded cellphones and money. A scuffle ensued, during which Senzo Meyiwa was fatally wounded.

Gininda informed the court that their investigation revealed that Ntanzi was the taller intruder who entered the house after the third accused, Mthobisi Mncube. He stated that Ntanzi made a confession to a commissioned officer on June 19 and later made another confession in the presence of his attorney and a magistrate at Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on June 24. In these confessions, Ntanzi implicated Kelly Khumalo as the person who ordered the killing of Senzo Meyiwa.

This is not the first time Kelly’s name has emerged in the trial. Cellphone records presented by Colonel Lambertus Steyn showed calls between the number used by the fifth accused, Fisojuhle Ntuli, and a number registered under Kelly’s name. These calls took place on two occasions before Meyiwa’s murder in October 2014.

Gininda also mentioned that Muzi Sibiya named Marco Buthelezi as the person who killed Senzo Meyiwa. However, their investigation has revealed that Mncube was the one who pulled the trigger and shot the soccer star. Photos downloaded from Mncube’s phone showed that he was wearing clothes matching the description of the intruder who entered the house with a gun and had dreadlocks.

Gininda concluded that all the accused in this case are Zulu-speaking individuals who know each other. The investigation also uncovered photos of the murder weapon used in the killing of Senzo Meyiwa. The trial continues with a focus on the admissibility of confession statements.
