A 12 year old boy’s body found in cooler box.Authorities in Mashonaland East province are currently investigating a tragic incident in which a 12-year-old boy from Murehwa was discovered deceased inside a vending cooler box.

According to reports, the boy went missing on February 3, 2024, after his father, Golden Gorembeu, had left him playing with friends at Musami Business Centre. Upon returning from a business trip in Bindura, Golden Gorembeu was informed by his mother-in-law, Ms. Ester Mutetwa, a vendor at the business center, that the child had not been seen.

Allegedly, the father assumed that his son was still playing with his friends and left to attend a memorial service in the neighboring Chivhinge village. Upon returning the following morning, he realized the boy had not returned home. Despite engaging locals to search for his son, the search was unsuccessful, leading to the father filing a missing person report at Musami Post at 6 pm that same day.

Mashonaland East province Police spokesperson, Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi, confirmed the incident and indicated suspicions that the boy may have suffocated inside the cooler box. The search for the boy continued until his younger brother, Genius Gorembeu (7), discovered Arnold’s lifeless body in one of the vending cooler boxes around 8 pm. Authorities were then notified, and officers attended the scene at Musami Post to investigate further.

The community is deeply saddened by this heartbreaking event, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the boy’s tragic death.
