In a recent development that has stirred discussions in the music industry, prominent gospel music duo, the Charambas, have taken action to have songs by the Zimdancehall star, Jah Signal, removed from YouTube due to copyright concerns.

The Charambas, celebrated for their uplifting gospel tunes, have revealed that Jah Signal sampled their songs without permission and failed to acknowledge or respect the original content in his versions. What adds  to this dispute is the nature of the Charambas’ music, which is gospel , in contrast to the romantic and sexual connotations that Jah Signal infused into his adaptations.

Despite their stance on copyright infringement, the Charambas made it clear that their motives were not rooted in animosity towards Jah Signal. In fact, they extended an olive branch by stating that they hold no ill will towards the musician and regard him as akin to a son. This gesture of reconciliation underscores the Charambas’ desire to address the issue from a place of understanding and mutual respect.
