Nyaradzo ‘Nyari’ Mashayamombe, born in 1980, is a prominent Zimbabwean activist, media entrepreneur, and talented afro-jazz singer and poet. She is renowned as the founding executive director of Tag A Life International Trust (TaLI), an organization dedicated to advancing the rights and empowerment of girls and young women in Zimbabwe. Additionally, Nyari serves as the founder and CEO of Identities Media Holdings, a company producing content featured on Zimbabwe’s sole free-to-air national television station, ZBC TV, as well as across various social media platforms.

With three studio albums to her name, Nyari hails from Shurugwi, a small rural town in the Midlands Province of Southern Zimbabwe, and is the youngest of eight siblings. She completed her primary and secondary education in Shurugwi before pursuing a Master of Science degree in Development Studies from the Women’s University in Africa.

Established in 2010, TaLI, under Nyari’s leadership, has championed for state-funded basic education to be provided to over 500,000 individuals who were deprived of schooling due to inability to pay fees. Through her talk show “Identities\/Umhlobo\/Zvatiri,” aired on ZBC TV and online platforms, Nyari engages in stimulating discussions on various social issues. Beyond her work at TaLI and Identities Media Holdings, Nyari holds a position on the board of the CIVICUS Alliance and has previously served on the boards of the Women’s Coalition of Zimbabwe and the Community Solutions Alumni Board
