Jamaican Dancehall star Vybz Kartel’s murder conviction was overturned in a Jamaican Judicial Committee of the Privy Council.

Recently, Kartel and his co-defendants presented their final appeal before the judicial committee of the Privy Council in London, which serves as the ultimate court of appeal for Jamaica and other Commonwealth countries.

Their lawyers contended that the trial judge mishandled allegations involving a juror who allegedly offered bribes to fellow jurors. The Privy Council allowed their appeals, emphasizing that the trial judge’s decision to retain the juror accused of bribery was “fatal to the safety of the convictions.”

The case has now been referred back to the Court of Appeal in Jamaica to determine whether Kartel and his co-defendants should face a retrial for the murder of Clive Williams123
