In a thrilling afternoon of football action, both Dynamos and Ngezi Platinum Stars secured their first victories of the season, putting an end to their three-match winless streaks.

Dynamos emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win over Bikita Minerals at Sakubva stadium, with Kelvin Moyo converting a penalty in the 53rd minute to secure the three points. The win was a special birthday gift for head coach Genesis Mangombe, who celebrated his 41st birthday on the same day.

Having only managed two points in their opening three games, the pressure was mounting on Mangombe, with some fans even calling for his removal. However, the win against Bikita Minerals provided some much-needed relief for the team.

Similarly, Ngezi Platinum Stars secured a 1-0 victory over Manica Diamonds, easing the pressure on coach Takesure Chiragwi, who was reportedly facing criticism from some executive members. The winning goal came from new signing Claude Mapoka in the 39th minute, marking the team’s first goal of the season and ending their winless streak.

Meanwhile, defending champions Ngezi Platinum Stars had a slow start to the season, failing to score a goal in their first three games and only managing three points. The win over Manica Diamonds was crucial for the team as they looked to turn their season around.

In other matches, Simba Bhora bounced back with a 2-0 win over Hwange in Shamva, while Bulawayo Chiefs defeated Yadah Stars 3-1 at Luveve. FC Platinum continued their unbeaten run with a 1-0 win over Herentals at Rufaro, and Highlanders secured a 2-0 victory over Telone at Bata Stadium under the leadership of Kelvin Kaindu.
