In a surprising turn of events, veteran opposition politician Tendai Biti has made the decision to temporarily step away from politics and distance himself from the Citizens’ Coalition for Change (CCC), which is currently led by Welshman Ncube. Biti was expected to take over as CCC president from Ncube on a rotational basis.

Biti, a former Finance minister and co-vice-president of the CCC, announced his decision to take a sabbatical from politics during an interview on HSTV’s #FreeTalk show. He expressed his desire to focus on other avenues that could contribute to the removal of the ruling Zanu PF party from power. This decision marks a significant shift in Biti’s political career, as he has been a prominent figure in the opposition movement for many years.

Biti has disowned the statement made by CCC spokesperson Jacob Mafume, who claimed that a meeting had been held to appoint Biti, Ncube, and Lynette Kairenyi Kore as rotational leaders of the party following the resignation of Nelson Chamisa. This further emphasizes Biti’s decision to distance himself from the CCC and take a break from active involvement in politics.
