Chokurongerwa allegedly had sexual relationships with five minors from 2018 to 2024, resulting in the birth of six children. One of the victims, a 14-year-old, has two children. He was granted US$1,000 bail after being accused of violating the Burial and Children’s Act.

Chokurongerwa (54) was arrested several weeks ago together with other seven members of his sect. They were charged with violating the Burial and Children’s Act, respectively. He is now facing five counts of “having sexual intercourse with a minor”. Prosecutors allege that Chokurongerwa engaged in sexual relations with 5 minors between 2018 and 2024.

Madzibaba Ishmael, appeared at the Norton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to face murder charges. The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) stated that Chokurongerwa (56) allegedly collaborated with Siribhino Chikunhure and Wonder Kabaya to end Hazel Chikurunhe’s pregnancy, leading to her death. The NPA reported that they discreetly buried the deceased’s body at Lily Farm church shrine without proper procedures.

Chikunhure and Kabaya managed to evade capture during a police raid on Madzibaba Ishmael’s shrine and are currently on the run. Chokurongerwa was remanded in custody until 07 May 2024 and was directed to the High Court for a bail application.
