In a shocking case of employee fraud, accountant Nigel Nhamo (33) has been arrested and charged with theft for embezzling approximately $80,000 from his employer, Dinson Iron and Steel Company in Mvuma.

According to reports, Nhamo altered payroll and time sheets between July 2023 and April 2024, deducting money from other employees’ accounts and transferring the funds to his personal accounts. He used the stolen money to finance a lavish lifestyle, including a luxurious wedding in December 2023 and a honeymoon in South Africa, where he and his wife enjoyed adventurous activities like rock climbing on Table Mountain.

Nhamo appeared before the Mvuma Magistrates’ Court, facing theft charges. The total amount stolen is estimated to be around $80,000, highlighting the importance of internal controls and regular audits to prevent fraudulent activities in the workplace.
