Our #MCM today is Munya Chawawa, a British-Zimbabwean actor, comedy rapper, and comedian born Munyaradzi Oliver Chawawa on December 29, 1992, in Derby, England. Munya spent his childhood in Zimbabwe before moving to Norfolk, UK, with his family at the age of 11.

Munya’s educational background includes attending Notre Dame High School in Norwich, where he excelled as head boy. He later studied psychology at the University of Sheffield, graduating in 2014 with a BSc degree. During his time at university, he gained experience in media, working with student radio and TV stations.
Munya’s career took off after creating comedic characters like Unknown P, a posh drill rapper, and Jonny Oliver, Jamie Oliver’s “Caribbean cousin.” His popularity grew during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly with his “Fire in the Booth” freestyle and parody news sketches. He has collaborated with notable comedians and musicians, including Mo Gilligan and KSI.
In November 2020, Munya released his first single, “Piers Morgan,” and was announced as the host of the Edinburgh TV Awards. His subsequent single, “Pain au Chocolat,” was released in August 2021.
