Former Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara) chief executive officer Frank Chitukutuku has surrendered assets valued at US$30 million to the State following a probe by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (Zacc). The forfeiture comes after Chitukutuku failed to account for the lawful origin of his wealth, triggering action under the country’s unexplained wealth laws.

Zacc confirmed that the High Court granted the forfeiture order after extensive investigations revealed that Chitukutuku had accumulated vast properties and vehicles disproportionate to his known income. Among the seized assets were luxury homes, top-end cars, and business interests, which authorities say were acquired during his tenure at Zinara through corrupt means.

The commission hailed the ruling as a landmark victory in Zimbabwe’s fight against high-level corruption, signaling a shift toward asset recovery and accountability. Zacc officials emphasized that the case sets a precedent for future action against public officials who fail to justify suspicious wealth, reinforcing the State’s commitment to curbing illicit enrichment.
